T3 Update Online -- Tips, Tricks and Techniques for Users of Beckman Coulter Life Science Automation |
|
Welcome From the Editors – Winter 2008 Issue
In this issue we’re giving you a sneak peek at our plans for our Laboratory Automation booth display, as well as the two informative application workshops we have planned for you. One will cover automation and detection of Cisbio's IP-One* GPCR functional assay and the other is a presentation on integrating automation in a cell culture process environment. By pre-registering with us for these workshops you will be eligible for a drawing for a digital photo frame, personally presented by the editors of T3!
Also inside, you will find a multitude of poster abstracts. The topics range from the automation of an HTRF* detection assay using the exciting new PARADIGM™ Detection Platform to the use of the BioRAPTR FRD™ Microfluidic Workstation for setting up low-volume amplification reactions for STR analysis on human DNA samples. We thought you could use this information to help plan your visit to our poster sessions at the Laboratory Automation 2008 show or simply to catch up on the latest developments by our application laboratory and our collaborating partners.
For those of you considering attending the Third European Biomek® User Summit in Opio en in Provence, France this June, we’ve included the complete preliminary program and registration information in this issue. This exciting event will cover topics on the Biomek and SAMI ® Workstation EX software, with particular emphasis on optimization of pipetting performance, new process management tools and data handling features.
As usual, this issue features informative tips collected from the Club Biomek User Forum. This month, we’re exploring ways in which users can be prompted for input during Biomek runs. Plus, we present a flexible means of handling cases where incoming data uses numbering schemes different from the Biomek standard and we feature a new Data Set Processing step that provides advanced tools for manipulating data in data sets.
We hope you enjoy this issue of T3 Update Online and look forward to seeing you in Palm Springs at the Laboratory Automation 2008 show. We'll see you at booth 227!
