A customer came to Beckman Coulter to obtain an automated solution for the processing of multiple ELISA assays. The customer wanted to upgrade their BiomekŪ 2000 Core system with a Biomek FX Assay Workstation for this purpose. The project management team designed a Biomek FX Assay Workstation with the dual-bridge hybrid system (Span-8 and 96-Multichannel head). Components integrated on the deck of the FX include an ELx405* washer (Bio-Tek Instruments, Inc.) and Beckman Coulter's DTX 880 multimode detector. A Cytomat Microplate Hotel was connected on the left side of the Biomek FX via a conveyor ALP with an integrated barcode reader ALP. This made it easier to regulate the timing of reactions. The use of the DTX 880 provided a detection solution that was easier to use and cheaper than that originally provided by the SpectraMax* reader (Molecular Devices). The customer is very happy with this automation solution for running standard ELISA assays. * All trademarks are the property of their respective owners.
