Overview
In order to ensure that customer expectations are fully satisfied, the following information has been compiled to summarize the functionality of the device. The warranty for this custom integration is one year from shipment. This includes Beckman Coulter-supplied hardware and software. This warranty applies for the integration to the version of third-party hardware, firmware, and software originally integrated. Any changes to the third-party component that cause the integration to no longer function properly are not covered under this warranty. The warranty applies to the system and system software versions (including SAMI®) on which the original integration was installed. Although our goal is for all SILAS modules to be forward compatible, this cannot be guaranteed for custom integrations. Any upgrades to the system (including SAMI) which cause the integration to no longer function properly are not covered under the warranty for this integration. Functional DescriptionThe FlexDrop Dispenser can be operated in two modes. The first mode of operation is standalone, programming it through the keypads on the device. The second mode of operation, and the mode that will be used in this integration, is through the SILAS/SAMI module for the FlexDrop dispenser. This second mode is outlined below: In the SILAS/SAMI System the unit is controlled through the FlexDrop SILAS module. In this implementation, an operator will have options to dispense only or to prime before dispense. The module will provide the capability to dispense to the entire plate, or to selected columns in the plate. The choice of four different reagents will be allowed during dispensing. Once configured, the SAMI software is used to schedule the robotic run allowing the robot to load and unload microplates from the unit and perform the selected dispense functions. The FlexDrop SILAS module will directly control the device through a serial port on the Core System Controller PC. Communicating with third-party software that can run the FlexDrop device is not supported in this integration. An adapter plate is required to switch between standard-height plates and deep-well plates. This plate cannot be handled automatically during a run, so only standard-height plates or deep-well plates can be used in any single run. Any internal errors in the function of the FlexDrop dispenser are communicated serially back to the host computer and displayed by an error notification box. The operator will then be given options to correct the error and retry the command, abort the run, or ignore the error and continue. All device errors are logged according to Core System standards.
