Beckman Coulter offers several courses in North America to help you learn to use your Biomek FX and Integrated Systems. After attending these courses, students have decreased their run-time, optimized their methods, and expanded the number of applications that they are running. For the current North American course schedules, please click the course links below. For other countries, please contact your local sales office.

Biomek FX classroom courses are offered in three Beckman Coulter training facilities: Fullerton, CA, Hoffman Estates, IL, and Somerset, NJ. SAGIAN™ Core Systems and Assay Workstation courses are offered in two Beckman Coulter training facilities: Indianapolis, IN and Hoffman Estates, IL. Assay Workstation courses are offered in Hoffman Estates, IL. Students will get hands on experience at computer workstations to generate and run methods. In addition, each location also has instruments available for student use.

Biomek FX Training

For anyone who is new to using the Biomek FX, the Biomek® FX Fundamentals Course is the course for you. This one-day course was designed to mirror on-site training provided during installation. If you attended training at installation, Biomek® FX Methods Programming Course will teach you to choose and incorporate basic and intermediate multi-channel and Span-8 steps to add flexibility to your methods. In addition, the Biomek® FX tools menu will be reviewed to discuss how to create new decks, techniques, labware, etc.

Once you have mastered these skills you have additional options available to advance your skill. The Biomek® FX Advanced Methods Programming Course will help you to incorporate advanced programming features such as variables, worklist, and if/then statements to add flexibility to your methods. This two-day course is designed to help you streamline your Biomek® FX methods to maximize your productivity in your laboratory.

If you cannot attend a two-day course but need to learn how to use variables, worklists, or the Span-8’s Transfer from File function, eLab Live On-line can provide the classroom quality with the convenience of the Internet. eLab Live On-line facilitates live Biomek FX training over the web. eLab Live On-line courses are one-hour live on-line courses that connect you to our on-line classroom where students interact with a live instructor and virtual Biomek FX lab to get hands-on experience. Students will apply their new skills by creating and executing Biomek FX methods using our state of the art Biomek FX Simulator software.

Introduction to Experimental Design & AAO FX Software is a 3-1/2 day course designed to provide you with a foundation in statistical design of experiments (DOE) and the use of Automated Assay Optimization (AAO) FX Software to translate your assay experimental designs into corresponding Biomek FX methods. This course is unique in that it is designed and taught in association with Stat-Ease, Inc., a world-class company specializing in DOE software, training, and consulting services. The DOE portions of this course include the use of Design-Expert® software.

Core System Training

Core System User Training is a 3-1/2 day classroom and laboratory experience, utilizing hands-on exercises, designed to provide you a solid foundation to program, schedule, and run Core System methods. The Core System User Training was designed as the first of two steps for a new user. Due to the virtually unlimited menu of system configurations, the student will learn about the system from a non-device specific point of view. The second step is the system orientation performed in your lab following the installation. During this orientation, the customer learns about the specific devices in their system. If you were unable to attend the system orientation, please contact your local service personnel.

In the Advanced SAMI® Course, you will learn to use additional features of SAMI® software that enable you to enhance your productivity, efficiency, and effectiveness. Utilizing hands-on exercises this course will enable you to improve the utility and throughput of your methods. The classes are conducted at the Beckman Coulter Customer Training facility in Hoffman Estates, IL.

In the Advanced ORCA® Course, you will learn to add and modify ORCA® movements and incorporate the movements in SILAS™. Utilizing hands-on exercises with actual instruments, this course will enable you to teach the robot to access new devices and labware.

Assay Workstation

Assay Workstation SAMI® Workshop is a two-day classroom experience, utilizing PC based exercises, designed to provide you with the tools to program, schedule, and optimize Assay Workstation methods. Following the on-site Start Up Training performed during installation, this course will enable you to optimize your SAMI schedules.
