Bob Lund, Beckman Coulter Inc. Biomek "Universal" P50 Tips are now available and supported on Biomek 3000, NX and FX, and Multimek™ AP Systems. These new certified tips offer an extended, narrow length, which allows pipetting from the bottom of deep labware to retrieve valuable samples for such applications as:
The P50 non-conductive, disposable tips are automation-friendly and can be transported in their ANSI/SBS footprint racks. The tips are offered in nonsterile, presterile, and presterile with barrier configurations. They are certified to be free of RNase, DNase, DNA (human and mouse)/PCR inhibition, pyrogen/endotoxin, and trace metals. Compatible labware commonly used with P50 tips includes: 240 and 300 µL, 384-well deepwell plates; 1 and 2 mL, 96-well deepwell plates; 1.4 mL sample storage tubes; 0.5, 1.5, and 2.0 mL Microfuge® tubes; 96- and 384-well micro- and amplification plates; and 10, 12, and 13 mm diameter test tubes. Software requirements for the use of Biomek P50 Tips are readily met with a labware import file from Beckman Coulter's eLabNotebook website: Follow the instructions to download and install the appropriate Biomek P50 Tip import file, or contact your local Beckman Coulter representative. With Beckman Coulter, you are assured that extensive verification and validation testing has been performed on the P50 tip to assess both product and system level performance. For the best in system performance, use only Biomek validated tips on Biomek instruments.
