Overview The Cell Scraper ALP is a custom product produced by Beckman Coulter for scraping a single well plate and tilting the plate for Span-8 aspiration. The warranty for this Custom Integration is one year from shipment. This includes Beckman Coulter-supplied hardware and software. This warranty applies for the integration to the version of hardware, firmware, and software originally integrated. Any changes to the components that cause the integration to no longer function properly are not covered under this warranty. The warranty applies to the system and system software versions (including BiomekŪ FX) on which the original integration was installed. Although our goal is for all modules to be forward compatible, this cannot be guaranteed for custom integrations. Any upgrades to the system (including Biomek FX) which cause the integration to no longer function properly are not covered under the warranty for this integration. Functional Description The Cell Scraper ALP will load a scraper mechanism onto the Biomek FX Multichannel pod. A software step will handle loading, scraping, and unloading. The scraping protocol will be editable by the user. The scraper will be replaceable. There will be two small troughs for cleaning the scraper. The ALP will support a labware position. This is the scraping position for the Multichannel pod. This position can also be used as a standard ALP location. When required the position will tilt the labware to facilitate Span-8 pipetting. The ALP will occupy two deck locations in Column 2. The ALP will also extend into the alley between Columns 1 and 2. Microplates can be transferred to and from the Cell Scraper ALP using the Biomek FX Grippers. Device Control The Cell Scraper ALP can be operated via the Biomek FX Steps supplied for the device. In this implementation an operator will have one Step for Loading, Scraping, and Unloading (using the scraper mechanism), and a second Step for Tilting and Pipetting. Note: The two cleaning troughs will be connected to reservoirs using a peristaltic pump. The operator will need to turn the pump on before the run and off when the method is completed.
