Magnetic particle technology allows for the generation of highly pure plasmid preparations without the need for specialized labware as the protocols use standard 96-well microplates. A method to purify two deep well plates of bacterial cell pellets was developed on the Biomek FX Liquid Handling System using the Wizard MagneSil Plasmid Purification System. The method was developed on a hybrid (96 multichannel/Span8) Biomek FX such that quantitation and normalization of samples can be accomplished via the Span8 pod after purification. However, any Biomek FX system that has a left 96-multichannel pod can be used with the purification method.
