There is an increasing demand for efficient preparation of high quality DNA due to the advancements in the fields of genomic screening, biomedical research and molecular pathology. Sample preparation is often becoming the bottleneck and new solutions are needed. We have developed a method for automated isolation of PCR-ready genomic DNA from blood using Dynabeads DNA DIRECT and the Dynal MPC -auto 96 on Beckman Coulter's Biomek 2000 Laboratory Automation Workstation. This method increases the efficiency and the quality of the purified DNA is improved as the risk of human error is reduced.

- 96 samples of 10 µL blood can be processed in 80 min.
- The yield of genomic DNA is 200-400 ng from 10 µL blood
- Magnetic separation of DNA adsorbed to the Dynabeads surface by using the Dynal MPC -auto 96.
