mRNA Purification From Cell Lysates or Whole Blood Using Dynal Biotech's Dynabeads* mRNA DIRECT* and Dynal MPC* -auto 96 Magnet Station on the Biomek® 2000 Laboratory Automation WorkstationMorten Egeberg, Arne Deggerdal, Tommy Rivrud, Erling Finne Efficient preparation of pure mRNA for many common applications such as RT-PCR analysis and probe synthesis for microarrays is becoming increasingly important as the field of gene expression studies advances. We have developed a method for automated isolation of mRNA from animal- and plant tissues, blood or cultured cells using Dynabeads DNA DIRECT and the Dynal MPC -auto 96 on Beckman Coulter's Biomek 2000 Laboratory Automation Workstation. This method increases the efficiency, and the quality of the purified mRNA is improved as the risk of human error is reduced. Moreover, this protocol is very robust and the mRNA is kept intact even after extensive handling at room temperature. The mRNA isolated with this method is ideal for downstream, applications such as microarrays, reusable solid-phase cDNA libraries, subtractive hybridization and differential display. Features
