Protein Crystallization Labware Definitions and Example Method for the Biomek® FX
Biomek® FX software version: 2.0 or higher
Import Files:

Demo Method: DEMOProtCrys.bmt
The definition for these plates is actually two separate definitions and the user must switch between definitions using an Instrument Setup step when pipetting between the larger reagent wells and the smaller crystallization wells. If you receive a 'No tips loaded' error, make sure to configure the inserted Instrument Setup step to indicate that the POD has tips loaded.
To install the Protein Crystallization Demo method on the Biomek FX:
- Download the file containing the method from the link above.
- Chose a directory to copy the files.
- Open the Biomek FX software.
- Under the File menu chose Open.
- Select the Protein Crystallization Demo method from the directory it was downloaded to.
To install the labware definitions follow the steps below for importing labware:
- In the Biomek software under the Tools menu choose Import/Export Utility.
- Select Open.
- Select the directory where the import file (.imp) is located and choose Open.
- Open the Labware folder by clicking the + next to it on the Import File side.
- Drag and drop the desired setting(s) to the Current Workspace side of the Import/Export Utility. (Note: Dragging an entire folder will copy all of the settings in that folder. You will then have the opportunity of overwriting or not overwriting each individual setting.)
- Continue to import settings using the above steps until all desired settings are imported
