Beckman Coulter's 2006 CLE Exhibit Shows Exciting Lineup of New Products

In July, more than 18,000 laboratory staff members, managers and hospital executives turned out for the industry's largest and most prestigious exhibition of the year: the 2006 Clinical Lab Expo (CLE) and AACC/ASCLS Annual Meeting, held in Chicago's McCormick Place Convention Center.

After two decades of experience at this influential and educational event, Beckman Coulter is still turning heads. If you were there, you likely saw why the Beckman Coulter booth attracted attention from lab personnel from far and wide.

The 6,400-square-foot display was impressive for more than just its size. It was stocked with the very latest products and technologies—as well as many tried-and-true favorites.

Beckman Coulter demonstrated an exciting lineup of new products, including the following:

UniCel® DxC 600i
The DxC 600i enables clinical labs to perform both chemistry and immunoassay testing simultaneously from a single point of sample entry and is the only system of its kind with closed-tube sampling and closed-tube aliquotting. With an on-board capacity of 89 reagents, this second-generation workcell offers a menu of more than 150 different tests, ranging from cardiac and tumor markers to tests for renal function, diabetes and more.

COULTER® LH 780 Hematology Analyzer*
This series of ground-breaking hematology systems delivers some of the highest sensitivity, specificity and efficiency in WBC differential analysis and includes a broad new spectrum of parameters; an innovative, vision-based advanced barcode reader system; the XM and extended QC rules quality control package; environmentally friendly consumables; and an improved user interface.

New Automation Configuration

Beckman Coulter also displayed a new automation configuration, called the PowerCel, that demonstrates a significantly smaller footprint, while still offering a hands-free connection to two high-volume analyzers, the UniCel® DxC 800 chemistry system and UniCel® DxI 800 immunoassay system.

ACL** Top CTS
This fully automated, labor-saving system features closed-tube sampling (CTS), eliminating decapping and recapping to help increase productivity and improve operator safety. It also delivers complete walkaway capabilities for improved productivity and continuous loading and unloading of samples, reagents and cuvettes without interruption .

ACL** ELITE Series
This series, comprised of the ACL ELITE and ACL ELITE PRO, provides a complete routine menu for hemostasis testing, including automated D-Dimer and Heparin anti-Xa. The systems also provide fast turnaround time for labs' most common hemostasis tests—delivering results for Prothrombin Time (PT) in four minutes; results for PT and aPTT in eight minutes; results for D-Dimer in seven minutes; and results for all three tests in 15 minutes.

To round out the event, Beckman Coulter also hosted several offsite, CLE-sponsored workshops and delivered more than 18 educational customer presentations on disease state management topics.

“We're very pleased with the turnout at the show,” said Cheryl Jackson, Beckman Coulter Group Manager, Communications. “We had a great pace of traffic through the booth and the customer response was excellent.”
