Clinical Lab Expo (CLE) Preview
What You’ll See at This Year’s Event: July 17-19, 2007

Last year, more than 600 organizations occupying more than 1,600 booths gathered for the largest clinical exposition in the world—the Clinical Lab Expo (CLE). The San Diego Convention Center will be the backdrop for this year’s exciting event—and Beckman Coulter will be front and center.

If you have any role to play in the identification or selection of clinical lab equipment and reagents, this is your chance to check out the latest offerings from Beckman Coulter and see how they can spell greater efficiency and accuracy for your lab. Here’s a glimpse of what you’ll see at the show:

Innovative New Products

  • Access® Inhibin A
  • Introduced in April, this is the first automated assay for the quantitative determination of dimeric inhibin A levels in human serum and plasma—expanding the reproductive test menu for our family of immunoassay systems. The newly automated Inhibin A assay negates the need to split samples when processed in tandem with other reproductive assays on the Access 2 or UniCel DxI 800 Access immunoassay systems.
  • UniCel® DxI 600 Access® Immunoassay System
The UniCel DxI 600, designed for mid-volume labs, rounds out our portfolio of immunoassay analyzers, which includes the Access 2 for low-volume labs and the UniCel DxI 800, our premium system targeted to high-volume labs. The DxI® 600 allows for continuous loading of STAT and routine samples, offers a broad menu and is simple to operate—providing flexibility labs need.
  • AutoMate™ 800 Sample Processor
As our newest automation release, the AutoMate 800 offers a number of exclusive technologies that help labs maintain sample integrity, increase efficiency, reduce manual processing errors, accommodate higher testing volumes and eliminate the need to hire additional staff. It features single point of entry, on-demand centrifugation, automated sample-volume sensing, STAT override capabilities, intelligent aliquotting, “smart” decapping and post-analytical storage with volume and location tracking—all in a compact footprint that saves space.
  • UniCel DxC 880i Integrated System*
The UniCel DxC 880i is equipped with a host of features—closed tube aliquotting and closed-tube sampling, for example—that help higher-volume labs deliver accurate results while increasing lab safety. The integrated system also offers a combined menu of 150 tests, with 120 on board at once, and a system throughput of up to 1,440 chemistry and 400 immunoassay tests per hour.
  • UniCel NsP 10 Nucleic Sample Preparation Platform
This small-scale, automated, nucleic acid sample preparation platform is designed to streamline laborious extraction processes for clinical laboratories. It performs up to ten samples in as little as 30 minutes from gDNA, Viral NA and FFPE specimens, providing an economical, robust and easy-to-use solution for labs in need of nucleic acid extraction automation. The UniCel NsP 10 accepts many specimen types and uses a variety of Agencourt® SPRI® chemistries in convenient, ready-to-use, prepackaged cartridges.
  • ACL** TOP CTS Hemostasis Analyzer
This fully automated, labor-saving system features closed-tube sampling (CTS), eliminating decapping and recapping to help increase productivity and improve operator safety. It also delivers complete walk away capabilities for improved productivity and continuous loading and unloading of samples, reagents and cuvettes without interruption.

Theater Presentations, Workshops and Events
To round out the 2007 CLE and AACC/ASCLS Annual Meeting, Beckman Coulter will also host several industry-sponsored workshops. You can also expand your knowledge base with Beckman Coulter’s dynamic line-up of poster presentations, symposia, brown bag sessions and 19 in-booth presentations.
