The Paragon CZE 2000 System separates the many proteins found in human
serum into five classic zones. Proteins are measured in the capillary
via direct absorbance at 214 nm. The resulting profile or
electropherogram is similar to a densitometric scan of a stained agarose
gel; however, since CZE measures proteins directly, variation in dye
absorption is eliminated.
The expected range values for serum for the Paragon CZE 2000 System SPE
kit were determined by calculating the mean values +- 2 SD for each
protein fraction from a population of 120 apparently healthy male and
female adults from Southern California.
