Near-Infrared Particle Immunoassay (NIPIA) Detection System
Expand your on-board menu with the LX 20 PRO's new near-infrared particle immunoassay detection system.
The NIPIA system emits a beam of light at 940 nm wavelength from an LED. A beam splitter reflects a portion of the light to a reference detector, which signals the LED electronics to increase or decrease power to keep the intensity constant. The light passes through the reaction cuvette and a lens focuses the beam on the analyte detector. This photo diode array measures the amount of light transmitted through the cuvette; the light decreases as particles in the cuvette aggregate.
New assays currently under development can use this technology to reduce interferences common to spectrophotometers, such as those from hemolytic, icteric and lipemic samples . And Beckman Coulter's microparticle-enhanced two-part reagents, currently used on our other analyzers, help your lab reduce manual steps and extend the measuring range of these chemistries.
