Thanks to a strategic partnership between Beckman Coulter and Bender MedSystems, your lab can now perform bead-based multiplexed assays that quantify multiple analytes in a single sample and use minimal sample volume. These assays, called FlowCytomix kits, rapidly quantify up to 10 analytes per well simultaneously — representing a significant advantage in productivity over standard ELISA assays. When used in conjunction with Beckman Coulter flow cytometers, these kits also offer greater flexibility to create custom multiplex assays compared to competitive products.

Multiple Analyte Detection on Today's Flow Cytometers
  • FlowCytomix kits can be run on flow cytometers with an excitation capability of 488 nm, including the automated FC 500 and XL™ Series systems, as well as the Quanta™ Family of flow cytometers. These kits use the ability of a flow cytometer to distinguish not only fluorescent intensities of microspheres, but also small size variations. Therefore, these solutions can offer 10 different bead sets, allowing the simultaneous detection of 10 different analytes.

FlowCytomix kits have shown excellent correlation with ELISAs, which have long been the Gold Standard of cytokine analysis.

  • FlowCytomix kits have shown excellent correlation with ELISAs, which have long been the Gold Standard of cytokine analysis. Thus, multiplexing is quickly becoming the new standard method for simultaneous detection of multiple cytokines and other analytes.
  • This methodology provides an efficient tool, which can be used in conjunction with high volume ELISA testing to streamline assay development through standardized testing processes.

FlowCytomix technology uses a sandwich immunoassay that couples the capture antibody with two different sized microspheres.

Sandwich assay binds specific antibody-bound beads to specific antibody-bound Biotin for a highly specific assay.


Microsphere Technology
  • FlowCytomix technology uses a sandwich immunoassay that couples the capture antibody with two different sized microspheres (4.4 and 5.5µ). Individual microsphere sets are coded using different internal fluorescent intensities. The assay uses the same principles as an ELISA, but assesses multiple cytokines or analytes per sample.

The FlowCytomix Pro software offers rapid, easy to use, analysis and reporting tools.

Complete Software Solution
  • The FlowCytomix Pro software offers rapid, easy to use, analysis and reporting tools. The software creates standard curves, calculates concentrations and provides user configurable reports and output selections in PDF and CSV formats.


Multiplex Kits
  • The FlowCytomix Multiplex kits are pre-packaged panels of analytes that address specific areas of research—ranging from immune response to cardiovascular assessment. Multiplex kits contain all the necessary reagents and analysis software you need to perform multianalyte detection by flow cytometry.


Simplex Kits
  • Simplex kits are used for the detection of one specific analyte, and can be combined with other Simplex kits to provide a high degree of testing flexibility. These kits must be combined with the Basic Kit for complete analysis and contain the following:
    • Fluorescent beads coated with corresponding antibodies
    • Reference standard protein
    • Biotinylated detection antibody
