LS 6500 Liquid Scintillation Counting System

LS 6500 Liquid Scintillation Counting System

LS 6500 Scintillation Counters combine advanced scintillation technology, configurability to meet your exact requirements and built-in upgradability to add features as you need them. Beckman Coulter offers unparalleled flexibility in a single high performance system, without the need of a dedicated external computer, and a partnership with you that begins with system installation and continues throughout the lifetime of your instrument.

The Basic System

The LS 6500 Liquid Scintillation Counting systems provide:

  • Advanced Technology
State-of-the-art instrument that eliminates early obsolescence by integrating the counting system, computer power and data management.
  • Configurability
Enhancement packs and single options let you tailor the system to meet your specific requirements.
  • Upgradeability
Add features and future enhancement packs throughout the lifetime of the system if your applications change.

State-of-the-Art Design...
Advanced electronic components, such as a Motorola 68000 Series microprocessor supported by a digital signal processor, maximize technological lifetime and make the LS 6500 fast and efficient.

High Spectral Resolution...
A 32,768 channel multichannel analyzer gives you an eight-fold improvement in effective resolution (0.06 keV per channel) over that of conventional liquid scintillation counters (0.5 keV per channel). This provides the basis for:

  • DPM results without quench curves
  • A more precise quench monitor
  • Superior results for multi-label studies
  • Automatic color detection and correction

Accurate Results...
Our patented H-Number Plus is standard in LS 6500 Value Systems and represents a significant improvement in accuracy and reproducibility. Quench is determined to a tenth of a channel.

...and Simple Operation
The LS 6500 guides you with ease-to-follow menus and context-sensitive help screens. Operate the system without an external computer. Store and transfer data securely with the optional Data Buffer & Transfer System.

The Value System Concept

Value Systems are instrument configurations that meet standard requirements and allow you to save a substantial amount of money. H-Number Plus, our patented quench quench monitor, and Versa-Rack™ are standard features on both LS 6500 Value Systems. You can count samples in any combination; up to 336 standard vials (20 mL) and 648 miniature vials (6 mL). Capabilities exist to count Bio-Vial™ or Microfuge® tubes.

Configure the LS 6500 Value System to easily address the needs of your multi-user environment with features not found in conventional scintillation counters. A variety of Enhancement Packs make it easy to tailor the system to your needs.

Single Options

A wide range of Single Options are available to tailor the system to your needs. The following options may be added to any instrument to create your individual configuration or to expand a Value System. Should your applications change after you have purchased an instrument, the system can be easily upgraded in the field at minimum cost.

  • Xtalscint® CPM/DPM, Optimization for Solid Scintillators
  • Auto DPM, Single-label DPM Calculation without Quench Curve
  • Single-Label DPM Calculation
  • Single- and Dual-Label DPM Calculation1
  • Single-, Dual- and Triple Label DPM Calculation1
  • Dual-Label % of Reference
  •  Luminescence Correction
  • Color Correction1
  • Two-Phase Monitor1, Detection of Multi-Phase Samples
  • Single Photon Monitor for Luminescence Measurements
  • Data Buffer & Transfer System, Storage of Data on 3.5-inch Disk Drive
  • Radioactive Waste Manager2
  • Hot Graph3, Display and Print of Histograms and Isotope Spectra
  •  Low Level Mode
  • Alpha/Beta Discrimination
  • RS-232 Interface
  • 30 Additional User Programs

Notes:

  1. Requires H-Number Plus.
  2. Requires Data Buffer & Transfer System.
  3. Included with Color Monitor Systems.

Based on your specific requirements, you can obtain substantial savings by expanding the system with Enhancement Packs instead of choosing Single Options.

* Standard with LS 6500 Value System and Value System 96; optional on LS 6500 Basic System.
