Certified RNase/DNase- and Pyrogen-Free for Large-Volume Pipetting up to 1 mL
Biomek P1000 Tips are now available for the Biomek NXP and FXP Span-8 Systems. These new certified tips offer increased tip capacity for large-volume pipetting up to 1 mL, for such applications as:
- DNA (genomic and plasmid) purification from bacterial cell cultures, blood and related sources, body fluids, swabs, and animal and plant tissues
- Viral titer measurement from blood and related sources
- RNA isolation from bacterial cell cultures, blood and related sources, CSF, and animal and plant tissues
- Protein purification using HIS-tag chemistry
- Solid-phase extraction of target analytes using filtration plates or 1 mL SPE columns
- Broadcast dispensing of reagents for assay development and dilution studies
The P1000 conductive, disposable tips are certified "RNase/DNase-free" and offered in three configurations:
- nonsterile
- presterile
- presterile with barrier
Working capacities for the tips are:
- 1050 µl (including air gaps) for P1000 tips without barriers
- 1025 µL (including air gaps) for P1000 tips with barriers
Compatible labware commonly used with P1000 tips includes:
- 1 and 2 ml, 96-well deepwell plates
- 96-well micro- and amplification plates
- 10, 12, and 13 mm diameter test tubes
- Microfuge® tubes
- 1 and 2 ml SPE filtration plates
- Reagent reservoirs
Software & Hardware
Use of the Biomek P1000 Tips requires the appropriate Biomek Software and Span-8 Disposal ALP (Automated Labware Positioner) hardware. Contact your local Beckman Coulter representative for upgrading Biomek NX and FX Systems.
With Beckman Coulter, you are assured that extensive verification and validation testing has been performed on the P1000 tip to assess both product and system level performance.
Certified RNase/DNase-Free
Biomek P1000 Tips are certified to be free of RNase, DNase, DNA (human and mouse)/PCR* Inhibition, Pyrogen/ Endotoxin, and Trace Metals.
RNase- and DNase-free certification ensures high quality nucleic acid purification and reliable nucleic acid testing results.
DNA-free (human and mouse)/PCR Inhibition certification ensures that amplification applications are free of contaminates that result in erroneous results and interfere with the PCR.
Pyrogen/Endotoxin-free certification addresses endotoxin-sensitive applications, such as cell transformations and preparative protocols, that use extracted biological material for in vivo experimentation.
Trace metal-free testing of the base, polypropylene tip resin reduces possible interferences due to chelation and denaturation.
Storage Conditions
Biomek Tips are precision plastic accessories intended for use on Biomek Laboratory Automation Workstations. Validation and performance of the systems are dependent on the proper storage of these precision components.
It is recommended that Biomek Tips are stored in a clean and dry laboratory environment at room temperature for no longer than two years. Exposure to high temperatures, radiation, or vaporous chemicals/solvents may result in the deterioration of the design of the tip, and therefore its performance.
Presterile Product
Presterile Biomek Tips with packaging intact and undamaged, and stored under recommended conditions is considered to retain its sterile nature indefinitely.
Due to the precise geometries and tolerances required of Biomek Tips in automated systems, autoclaving should not be used to provide sterility.
